If you wonder what we learned this week, keep on reading and take a peek!
This week was filled with rhymes.
Rhymes are words that sound the same as other words.
We read The Giraffe Made Her Laugh about some silly animals and a Queen… and then we laughed ourselves about The Silly Emperor’s New Clothes. We rhymed all sorts of words and noticed that many of our songs contain rhymes.
We made crowns in honor of the Queen and King in our books.
We learned the poem Humpty Dumpty– and talked about how we are glad we are people and not eggs… as well as the dangers of sitting on a wall.
We spoke about Yom Kippur in Jewish Studies and we practiced saying we were sorry, in Hebrew Slicha, to our friends and teachers.
In science we learned about rocks. We classified them- sorting them to match each other by color, size and shape. Then we got to “mine” them ourselves to determine that different kinds of rocks do different things. Sand is made up of rock, and when it got wet it went right through the sifter- the larger rocks did not. We also got to select our own rock to keep!
We reviewed our letters “A”, “O”, and “B”.
We feel pretty good about knowing how they sound, how to write them and what words start with them- so we added them to our Alphabet Soup!
We enjoyed Music. We used our listening ears to follow Ms. Zina’s instructions!
Ms. Alyse joined us on Thursday and we had an extra special time during recess using our gross motor skills. The rain couldn’t stop us, we played in the hallway! Some friends pretended to be alligators and other friends balanced on the “bridge” while carrying balls to the basket! Then we worked on matching rainbow colors.
We continue to learn about shapes, colors and counting while working on our fine motor skills with Play-Dough!
We celebrated Shabbat with our “Aba” Harper and “Ema” Naomi! We love to give tzedakah, sing and dance. We also learned about Jonah and the Whale with a little puppet show.
So far, this has been the BEST WEEK EVER!!
