This week we explored weather patterns, sang rainy day songs, created a large watercolor painting with a rain theme, (we create a variety of art weekly, so check the hallway wall frequently:) ) and examined the letters X, O, P and L. The children have been practicing their letter writing and recognition, as well as creating words that focus on our featured letter. You might hear that we have been doing some learning games in the hallway. That’s part of the VPK readiness individual assessments- I try to make it quick and painless.
In preparation for Rosh Hashana, Morah Rachel and Morah Miriam have been blowing the Shofar, and teaching the importance and meaning of the holiday. Some of the Hebrew terms we learned are Tapuach, D’vash, Shanah Tovah, and Sleecha.
The children are very interested in wanting jobs in the class! From cleaning up, to holding the flag, to assisting with circle time, all jobs all important. We make sure to rotate, but know that not everyone gets their favorite job each time. This week, Sadie is the show and tell person on Friday, Anna is the Shabbat Ema, and Andrewsha is the Aba.
With tomorrow being September 11th, we will tell the children that it’s a day of kindness and remembrance of all those we love.
We will also have our PJ Library reader, music and our mystery reader on Thursday and Friday! Looking forward to it! Thanks to all those who are making this possible:)
Next week is Fall Picture Week🙂 I will tell you the exact date with enough time to prepare.
September 24th- Noon dismissal for Erev Rosh Hashanah, no school on the 25th or 26th.
