Happy new year!
I would like to thank each and every one of you for your generous holiday gift. It is my profound pleasure to have the privilege to teach and care for your children each day- getting to know you as parents and advocates on their behalf is bonus.
Last week we read books by Laura Numeroff. Our “Back to School” theme began with If You Take a Mouse to School. We spent the week doing everything the mouse did in the story.
We made furniture out of play dough and a mouse house out of blocks.
We also read If You Give a Pig a Pancake, If You Give a Moose a Muffin, If You Give a Cat a Cupcake and If You Give a Mouse a Cookie. We talked about the sequence of events and what was the same and different in all the books.
We made mouse puppets.
In P.E. we played a numbers activity.
We did alphabet dot-to-dot worksheets.
We played with manipulative during free play.
We made puppets of ourselves.
Our letter of the week was “M”.
We practiced cutting.
It was wet outside, so just like the mouse we played ball. We practiced throwing, catching, kicking and rolling the ball to each other.
We learned about punctuation.
We created our own artwork.
We spelled with magnets.
This has been the best week ever… Until next week!
Please remember, next Wednesday and Thursday are pajama/snow days with special activities planned.
There is no school on Friday, January 15th- Teacher inservice day and Monday, January 18th- Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
