This week was short, but very active. We were not in school Monday and Tuesday for Sukkot, but we more than made up for it on Wednesday with our Sukkah Hop! We visited community sukkot, sang songs, and ate treats in the sukkah.
On Thursday we learned all about the letter “T”, the sound it makes alone AND when you add an “h” (put your tongue between your teeth “TH”). We also talked about words that start with “T”!
We also learned a very special “T” word- TORAH! We even made a Torah puppet to dance with in honor of Simchat Torah.
It has been an exciting time as we learned about and celebrated all the wonderful holidays these past few weeks.
We had music with Ms. Zina and answered the question,”Where IS Thumbkin?”
We reviewed our 5 Senses lesson with a matching game!
And we played Ms. Suzie Says- check out our silly faces!!
We added words to our Word Wall. We are getting better at figuring out beginning sounds and what letter our word wall cards go under!
Speaking of beginning… at Simchat Torah we finish reading the entire Torah and start all the way at the beginning again with Bereishit- which means in the beginning. We learned about the 7 days of Creation, and we applied math to figure out how many days God worked and rested. If there are 7 days and God rested on 1 day, how many days did God work? 7-1=6
We read about Creation and about the legend of LIGHT– how the light scattered all over the world and it is our job to find all the light by doing good deeds- mitzvot– to make the world a better place, just like Tikun Olam Ted. Tikun Olam translates to fixing the world, and we talked about ways that we can help fix the world!
We had a very special Mystery Reader come visit us to read The Napping House– Ms. Dina!! She made us laugh so hard!
We celebrated Shabbat with our Aba Shabbat Maximus and Ema Shabbat Isabel! Thank you to all who came to join us. You got to see us learn more about the Torah with Morah Rachel and Morah Miriam– and dance with our very own Torah puppets for Simchat Torah!
This has been the best week ever… Until next week!
Please remember that school is CLOSED on Monday and Tuesday, October 5th-6th – Shemini Atzeret & Simchat Torah.
If you have not yet done so, please send $6.00 for the Weekly Reader subscription.
Also, Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for November 9th. I would love the opportunity to meet with you to discuss your child’s progress.
Have a Chag Sameach!
