Another wonderful week has just flown by!
We reviewed our Circle Time routine which includes:
Our good morning song, class rules, Give me 5, The Pledge of Allegiance, the 7 days of the week. We also introduced Hatikvah (the Hope) the Israeli national anthem.
We learned the letter “B” for brown, bear, bird, blue, balloons, buttons… the list goes on and on! We sat in our small groups and discussed the sound that the letter makes and the different words that begin with “B”. Then we all took turns finding the letter “B” magnets and blocks from a basket full of letters as well as writing the letter “B”.
In our Large Group we each take turns sharing our thoughts while answering the question of the day.
We focused on our ELLM curriculum book of the week- Brown Bear, Brown Bear What Do You See? by Bill Martin, Jr. and illustrated by Eric Carle. We discussed colors and animals.
We also read Polar Bear, Polar Bear What Do You Hear? We compared and contrasted the two books- we talked about what is the same in both and what is different.
We introduced our Alphabet Song and each week a new song leader will be in charge of turning the alphabet song book pages.
We are learning and practicing our number recognition. We are doing one-to-one correspondence as well as matching numbers in order of 1-10 with a puzzle.
We practiced writing our letter “B”.
We focused a great deal on colors this week and played several color matching game. We talked about the colors of the animals in our book and tried to remember what they were as well as sounding out the first letters to attempt to guess correctly on our Color By Word page.
We made a Brown Bear!
We wrote our names on EVERY paper and cut and traced.
We are continuing to work on our fine motor skills with more challenging cutting practice.
In Jewish Studies we learned about the Shema.
In Science we made GAK and got to play with it and take it home with us.
In P.E. with Coach Jackie we played soccer.
We sang and danced in Music with Ms. Zina.
We created class greenhouses with Ms. Amanda in Gardening.
We had a surprise guest reader who read the book What a Wonderful World, a song that Ms. Suzie will be teaching to us.
We then answered Ms. Judy’s question:
We talked about mitzvot and what it means to be a mensch! We try to acknowledge every mitzvah that our friends do like helping others, cleaning up, showing respect, celebrating Shabbat, saying a blessing before we eat-and have a Mitzvah Stars chart.
Mitzvah– a good deed
Mensch– a good person
Thank you to all our parents for your continued support and encouragement! You get the Mensch of the Year award- each and every one of you!
This was the BEST week ever… Until next week!
